Batu Homes. Inc. was founded in 1998 by Serhan Kokuuslu, AIA, for the purpose of designing and building superior homes in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. Our guiding principles of integrity, quality and value have earned us a leading position in the architectural and contracting community.
We approach each project individually and combine unique architecture, smart planning and best construction practices to create homes of enduring value. We have successfully completed many elegant single family homes and townhomes in various upscale communities in Northern Virginia.
The Company holds a Class A contractors license in Virginia and Maryland. Our business affiliations include National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) and the Northern Virginia Building Industry Association (NVBIA).
Serhan Kokuuslu moved to the United States and settled in Northern Virginia in 1986.
From 1986-1996 Serhan worked for several of the primary architectural firms in Northern Virginia. In 1996 he co-founded Reed Kokuuslu Architects, P.C., a full service architectural design firm in Fairfax, Virginia. Two years later he founded Batu Homes with the vision of combining his architectural and construction skills to create beautiful homes for modern living.
Married and the father of two sons, Serhan is deeply involved in many community activities. He passionately coaches youth soccer teams in the Vienna and McLean Youth Soccer Leagues.
Serhan holds a B.S. in Architecture from Gazi University in Ankara, Turkey. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA)
