We recently had our very old - and very small! - master bathroom redesigned and remodeled by BATU Homes + Remodeling. One of the most important changes we hoped to achieve was to install double sinks, which the first two contractors we had out for estimates said was not possible.
Serhan and Gulcin gave us a design that not only accommodated the double sink request, but also added other elements we would not have thought of, which gave us both more space and more storage.
The job was both professional and painless, and we now have a beautiful and functional new master bath. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend BATU for any size of renovation!
We had been working with another designer for almost a year on a screened-in-porch project, and were not satisfied with their work. We had also obtained quotes from various contractors and had to keep reducing the scope of the project to meet our budget.
Then we saw a nice looking home addition and renovation under construction down the street by Batu Construction. We called and asked Serhan if he was willing to help us with our screened-in-porch, even though it was a smaller project than the one he was working on.
After listening to the particulars of our project, he sketched a proposed floor plan and elevation that provided an efficient design that would meet our budget.
Shortly, material started arriving and work was underway. The building permit was approved quickly and within three weeks the work was substantially completed. We appreciate Serhan’s responsiveness to our ideas and willingness to make minor changes. He has excellent craftsmen working with him.
We are very happy with our new addition to our home, and we wished we had found him a year ago so we did not waste a lot of time earlier on.
We recently had Batu Homes complete a kitchen/bath addition and can't say enough good things about them. From our initial meeting we were impressed. Serhan was one of the few contractors that was prompt and organized during our initial interviews and he put together a very reasonable proposal based on our budget.
From hearing horror stories about bad contractor experiences, we were apprehensive at the beginning of the process. Serhan was great in allaying our fears - his teams were prompt, friendly, organized, and clean. You can tell that they take pride in their work. The quality is excellent - they did not compromise workmanship to cut time or make a few extra bucks. The architectural details are tasteful and finish work was notable - they did a great job of blending the newly remodeled areas into the rest of the house.
It was also nice to have an architect in charge - Serhan offered a number of improvements to our building designs and was able to quickly address a few unforeseen conditions that arose without compromising our schedule or plans.

We chose Batu Homes to take on our big remodel (which consisted of adding and improving 4 bedrooms, a master suite, a handicap friendly bathroom and other bathrooms, new kitchen, all new floors, windows, siding, roof, HVAC with geo-thermal, and everything that goes with improving the curb appeal) because Serhan was a practical and ingenious architect who could see the project through from start to finish.
He was very easy to communicate with and he struck a good balance between guiding us with his expertise and doing what we requested. We were prepared for a long re-modeling process but it was done on time and things went more smoothly than we had anticipated.
We have had many compliments on our re-model because although we added a ton of space, light and comfort, we still blend in with the charming character of our neighborhood. We got a great value for an excellent change of life.

Your attention to detail really paid off and our home is now absolutely beautiful and true to the original bungalow style. We are very happy and fortunate to still live in the house that you have built for us five years ago. Maria and I always remember how patient you were with us especially when we changed a lot of options in the house. We did enjoy working with you and thank you again for the good quality you built.
My wife and I purchased our current home from Batu Homes in 2003. At the time we put a contract on the home the shell was done, but the inside had not been finished. While I have never built a home, I have done some remodeling work and could see that the construction was sound. This was confirmed upon completion by both our home inspector and a friend in the construction industry who were both impressed by the quality of the construction work.
After agreeing on the contract, Serhan worked with us to select the floors, cabinets, and lighting for the house. The grand staircase his carpenters constructed is a marvel. Having heard many horror stories we were delighted when the house was completed on schedule.
My wife and I love the house and, besides being well designed, it is very energy efficient. We are planning to retire and move out of the area in a few years, however, we have become spoiled by the house and fear that we will not be able to find its like in our new location. Maybe we can convince Serhan to build a house in Chapel Hill.
